Commenced entry into online education a decade ago, in the rollout of Australian University's online MBA program into the Asian market, eventuating growth of the university from 9,000 students to 40,000. As a futurist, electronics engineer, entrepreneur, and long-term global business executive in the large-cap realm, Dr Markham was uniquely suited for the transformation of digital education. The key imperative was to deliver a superior online product incorporating various flipped classrooms, recorded lectures, and Cisco telepresence that exceeded face-to-face and previous online courses. To that end, some years back, in 2013, I was invited to become an inaugural digital doctoral chair/supervisor and doctoral examiner, to prove that a global university could confer doctoral degrees from the US to Chinese nationals in their home country.
