Frank Appunn holds degrees from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, U Maine Orono, and a PhD from Capella university. His background includes being an entrepreneur in the new technology arena for 20 years before moving to teaching in 2007. He taught in multiple universities from BS through doctoral degrees from 2010. His passion includes innovating new approaches to improve outcomes in cybersecurity, project management, and computer science. He has led the development of new degrees at four institutions from bachelor’s to doctoral levels. At NU/NCU he led the creation of a PhD Cybersecurity after having led initiatives across multiple MS degrees. He received Faculty of the Year awards in 2012 and 2019 for his work in doctoral degrees. Research interests include topics related to safe AI implementation, technology use for remote collaboration, cybersecurity, research methods, and teams and has been active in grants exceeding $ 1 million. Frank consults in the cybersecurity arena to the banking, healthcare, and the technology industries, he is an active participant and leader in cybersecurity organizations supporting federal initiatives. At National University, he has led multiple degrees, served as Chair, and now focuses on the PhD Cybersecurity while supporting other degrees.
