Education

Univ of Wisconsin, Madison - PHD - Materials Science
Dr. Jodi Reeves is a Professor in the School of Technology and Engineering and the Academic Program Director for MS Data Science and BS Data Science. She instructs graduate and undergraduate courses in data science, AI, engineering, program management, and manufacturing design engineering. She is also the Education, Diversity and Outreach Director of the AI Institute TILOS, which is a five-year, $20 million NSF grant for AI/Optimization with UCSD, MIT, Yale, Penn, and UT-Austin (https://www.tilos.ai/). With a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in materials science and engineering, she has served over ten years in increasingly responsible experience in higher education leadership including five years as the department chair of Applied Engineering, one year as the dean of the School of Engineering and Computing, three years as the associate dean for the College of Professional Studies, and one year as the department chair of data science. Prior to National University, Dr. Reeves worked as a senior scientist in characterization, project manager, and quality control manager at SuperPower, Inc. in Schenectady, NY. She excelled at research on thin film superconductors using such characterization techniques as SEM, EDS, OIM (BEKP), XRD, FIB, AFM, and XRF while collaborating with other scientists using TEM, XPS, FTIR, ICP, GDS, and STM. She invented new quality control tools, including one which applied XRD to thin film manufacturing; this tool won an R&D 100 Award in 2004. Dr. Reeves has 5 patents, over 30 published papers, and was an invited speaker at DOD workshops, DOE funding reviews, and national and international superconductor conferences. Finally, she led a team at SuperPower Inc. that obtained a 3-year, $5M grant for quality control capital equipment at SuperPower and workforce development in nanoscience at a local community college and undergraduate college.
