Edward Brayton

EDWARD M. BRAYTON. Ed possesses a unique combination of construction supervision and project management experience. First, he was a first-line supervisor in a medium sized family-owned construction business for six years where he placed forms, rebar and concrete for water treatment and sewer projects. Then, Ed was a Project Controls Manager in three Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firms for over six years. He has worked on petrochemical, paper and power plant projects ranging from $63 Million to $2.0 Billion. Ed is the program director and professor in the Construction Management program at National University, where he also teaches online courses. He has also been a program director and professor at the University of Louisiana Monroe and Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where he taught face-to-face courses in Construction Contracts, Cost Estimating, Quantity Estimating, Safety, Supervision, Mechanical & Electrical Plan Reading, Associate Constructor Exam Preparation & Construction Project Administration. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Ed has also authored ten instructional Manuals with over 200 competency-based learning modules for his courses. He has also been the Faculty Advisor to Sigma Lambda Chi, the Construction Honor Society at ULM and Ferris State University. Ed has a total of 14+ years as the Construction Management Program Director while teaching 4+ courses per semester. He was responsible for student advising, transcript evaluation, creating a unique degree completion plan for each transfer student. Ed has created over 100 community college transfer articulation agreements. He was also responsible for creating the course schedule and managing the budgets. In addition, at ULM Ed expanded the contractors who recruit at the university from 2 to over 40 firms. He also expanded the women and African American in the program by 200% in 2022 and 2023. Also, Ed increased Construction Management student enrollment by 192% from 2018 to 2023. Furthermore, he has authored an online upper-level CM bachelor’s degree proposal for place bound students with a technical Associate Applied Science (AAS) degree. Ed was the volunteer founding chair of the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Certification Examination Committee. He is now the Item Writing Subcommittee Chair where he is involved in writing questions for the Level I and Level II Constructor Certification Examinations. Ed’s has developed six workforce development safety training manuals and trained more than two thousand four-hundred construction personnel. Ed has also been designing, developing, and presenting Project Management and Construction Administration training seminars for the construction industry for more than fifteen years.
