Donna Smith has held many positions in higher education, including professor in doctoral studies programs, dean of a university graduate division, and director of an accelerated degree program. She has served as a member of several Middle States reaccreditation committees, the president’s council, strategic planning committee, academic council, department chairs faculty group, and curriculum committee within these professional positions. Currently she serves on the JFKSOPSS Social Justice and Allyship Committee and the School Advisory Council. She works within her community to assist first responders in understanding the human factors involved in disaster recovery with a focus on trauma. Her publications and conference presentations focus on topics relating to diversity, trauma, and leadership. She earned her PhD from Nova Southern University, her MA from Centenary University, and her BA from Hope College. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, and the Association for Conflict Resolution. She was a member of a research team that worked with a group of educators from the National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY) to explore the career trajectories of Black, male educators in P-12 education. The study results were presented at the 2019 National Teacher Leadership Conference and published in the Journal for Multicultural Education. She has also presented at multiple International Leadership Association (ILA) conferences.
