Dr. Bernadette Baum is a Professor and Academic Program Director for the Master of Arts in Human Resource Management (MAHRM) and Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management (BSHRM) programs in the Leadership, Management, and Human Capital Department of the School of Business and Economics. Dr. Baum is the recipient of the 2017 NU President's Distinguished Teaching Award. She was awarded the 2024 Outstanding Scholar Award by the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences. She is the 2024 Recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award from the NU School of Business and Economics. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. Dr. Baum specializes in employment law and is a certified professional in human resource management, holding two HR professional certifications: SPHR and SHRM-SCP. Dr. Baum's research interests include Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment, and Emotional Intelligence. With over 24 years of experience in teaching graduate courses in human resource management, HR legal compliance, and organizational development, Dr. Baum provides mentorship and guidance to her students as they seek to achieve their educational and professional goals.
