Shak Hanish is a full professor and the Director of the Political Science Program at National University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Political Science in 1998 from Northern Arizona (State) University, specializing in International Relations, Comparative Politics, and History and Politics of the Middle East. His master’s degree was from SDSU in World Politics, and his BA degree in Political Science and minor in World Cultures from SDSU. His AA degree was in Liberal Arts from San Diego City College. He developed the political science program in 2008 and developed several politics science and other social sciences online courses. His teaching Interests are Intercultural Business Communication, Cultural Diversity, American Government, World Civilization, and Arabic Language and Culture. He has taught over 250 courses (onsite and online) at National University, SDSU, Chapman University, Northern Arizona University, California State University- Long Beach, among others. His research and teaching interests are in World Politics and Middle Eastern Politics. His scholarly work focuses on the issue of minorities in the Middle East, specifically in Iraq, and issues of human rights, women’s rights, Islamic fundamentalism, and federalism. He was an International Guest Professor in China, Turkey, Palestine, Kosovo, and Serbia. Until August 2024, his publications include 3 books, 11 book chapters, 24 peer-reviewed journals articles, 15 encyclopedia entries, 12 book reviews, 6 other publications, 8 book or manuscript reviews, 6 article reviews, 22 conference presentations, 14 aired interviews, 26 published interviews, and over 30 lectures and presentations to various organization.
