National University, California’s second-largest private, nonprofit university, announces the appointment of Dr. Steven Lorenzet as the new Dean of the School of Business and Management, effective Aug. 4. Dr. Lorenzet brings extensive background in innovative program development, academic excellence and industry collaborations, and he is an award-winning researcher in the areas of human resource management and organizational behavior.
Dr. Lorenzet joins National University from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he served as Dean of the College of Business Administration. During his tenure at Rider University, Dr. Lorenzet was instrumental in securing academic-industry collaborations such as an MBA program for Bank of America employees and an Executive MBA (EMBA) program for Waste Management employees, as well as increasing international study opportunities for students in coordination with higher education institutions in China, Taiwan and France. In addition, he led the College of Business Administration’s efforts to increase external funding resources, expand admissions agreements with local community colleges, and partnered with key stakeholders to launch Rider’s first fully online Master of Accountancy program. Dr. Lorenzet, who previously served as Dean of the Nathan Weiss Graduate College at Kean University, received his Ph.D. in Organizational Studies (Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior) from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and his research has received multiple awards including the Citation of Excellence from Emerald Management Reviews.

National University’s School of Business and Management currently offers more than 25 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs that prepare students to succeed in the interconnected local and global economy. The School is comprised of three departments: Accounting and Finance; Leadership and Human Resource Management; and Management and Marketing. Programs are available in a range of specialties including business administration, hospitality and casino management, organizational leadership, accountancy and integrated marketing communications. A unique Global MBA program is also offered entirely in Spanish.
